Claire knows only a world where most of humanity lives inside sparsely populated cities protected from the Outside by guarded walls. She is a new Driver whose job is to transport items between these cities. Under the watchful eye of her Protector, Shaun, Claire makes her first run from San Jose to Angel City to bring back medicine needed to save hundreds of lives. However, the trip takes them through the dangerous land of the Outsiders. Using their skills, Claire and Shaun must escape from their armed pursuers in a chase across miles of barren wasteland with no hope of help.

This novel reminded me of an old sci-fi book I read long ago about this guy in a souped up car/tank that was bringing some medicine across the country, what was it called? ... had to look it up, it was "Damnation Alley." This reminded me of a short, less gritty version of Damnation Alley. And I enjoyed it.2 people are fleeing from armed pursuit. Can they make it back to the safety of their walled in-community? Simple premise, good execution, plenty of action and the story is short and easy to digest. I also liked the character development, which I found to be above average for a short story.
Recommended for fans of post-apocalyptic action involving car chases

Typical short self published book.
I like this short story a lot and am wondering if it is part of a series. I sure hope so as it was a very exciting and entertaining read. I thoroughly enjoyed being a third passenger in this particular car. Very good story and I like the writer's style.
Claire is a first time Driver with a run from San Jose to Angel City. She has a veteran Protector, Shaun, who has 12 runs under his belt. Their mission is to obtain medicines for their community. Claire is interested in the medicines as her brother has the "Rain Sickness".
The Outsiders are out to get them and the drive is fast and furious. I liked it as it shows some ingenuity by both Claire and Shaun.
Highly recommended.
